Summary
Christopher Nolan's psychedelic thriller Memento was Best Picture and won three other awards. The film had strong competition: In the Bedroom (three awards), Ghost World (two awards, the second for Steve Buscemi ), LIE (one award, six nominations), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (five nominations) and Donnie Darko ( three nominations). Surprisingly few nominations received Marc Forster's Monster's Ball , Richard Linklater's Waking Life and David Lynch's Mulholland Dr. Jean-Pierre Jeunet won the prize for The fabulous world of Amélie ( Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) - the best foreign film against strong competition from Jonathan Glazer and Alejandro González Iñárritu .
