Kimberly Jan "Kim" Dickens (born June 18, 1965 in Huntsville , Alabama ) is an American actress and former model .

life and career

Kim Dickens graduated with excellent grades in communications from Vanderbilt University in Nashville , before continuing her performing arts training in New York City at the Actors Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts . She worked as a mannequin for Calvin Klein, among others, until the mid-1990s .

Dickens made his debut on stage in Nashville in a student performance of David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago . She appeared in plays, commercials and music videos before her first role in a motion picture for the 1995 comedy Palookaville .

Dickens, who appeared elf-like and fragile in many films, often appeared in TV and cinema productions outside the mainstream , for example in Kiefer Sutherland's Place of Truth (1997), in Zero Effect (1998), with Bill Pullman and Ryan O ' Neal , and in Sam Raimi's The Gift (2000), with Cate Blanchett . In 2001 she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award as best actress in the rape drama Things Behind the Sun nominated.

However, Dickens also took on the lead female role in the 1998 action film The Mercury Puzzle , alongside Bruce Willis and Alec Baldwin , and an important supporting role in Great Expectations , with Gwyneth Paltrow , Ethan Hawke and Robert De Niro .

In 2000, Dickens was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for the science fiction film Hollow Man . In 2003 she starred in the multiple Oscar nominated emigrant drama House of Sand and Fog with Jennifer Connelly and Ben Kingsley . She later got roles in the films Blind Side and Gone Girl .

One of Dickens' most successful TV appearances from 2004 to 2006 was her role as a prostitute in the television series Deadwood . 2014, it was for the role of Madison Clark in the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead by The Walking Dead cast. In the political series House of Cards , she played the role of reporter Kate Baldwin since the third season .

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
