Friends Jerry, Russ and Sid live in Palookaville, New Jersey . Jerry's wife, Betty, works in a supermarket. The friends dream of easy money and want to rob a jeweler. You mistake the shop for a bakery. The later attack on a money transporter also goes wrong: the driver has a heart attack, the friends take him to the hospital. They are considered heroes.
Jerry witnesses his wife's boss trying to grope her. After the ensuing argument, Betty is released.
Jerry, Russ and Sid study gangster films as educational material.
Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote that what distinguishes the film from the other films about unsuccessful crimes is that it is almost free from violence. The characters would evolve as the film progressed.
Kenneth Turan made in his criticism in the newspaper Los Angeles Times (November 1, 1996) in the music of the film from the influence of Nino Rota . The director directed by Alan Taylor is "nice".
