Alan Taylor (* 1965 ) is an American film and television director , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Taylor was born to videographer James J. Taylor and curator and writer Mimi Cazort . His sister is the musician Anna Domino .

Taylor was best known as the director of television series for HBO . He has directed several episodes of the series Oz - Hell Behind Bars , Sex and the City and The Sopranos, among others . He later directed television series such as Mad Men , Bored to Death , Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones .

His first feature film, Palookaville , was made in 1995. The Emperor's New Clothes followed in 2001 and Kill the Poor in 2003 . In December 2011, Taylor took on the direction of the Thor sequel Thor - The Dark Kingdom , which hit theaters in October 2013. He then directed Terminator: Genisys (2015).

Private life

Taylor is married to the German make-up artist Nicki Ledermann ( Sex and the City , Der Teufel wears Prada , Boardwalk Empire ). The marriage resulted in two daughters and a son.
