Bored to Death is an American television series produced for HBO . It is about a writer named Jonathan Ames, who begins to work part time as a private detective. The series is advertised as “noir ‑ otic comedy” (a play on words made up of film noir and neurotic , meaning neurotic ).
action
The focus of the series is the 30-year-old writer Jonathan Ames from Brooklyn , whose girlfriend Suzanne left him at the beginning of the series, ostensibly because of his frequent alcohol and cannabis use . Lacking inspiration for his second book and out of general boredom, he offers his services as an unlicensed private investigator on Craigslist . He received his first orders promptly and was able to solve some cases more or less successfully with the help of the crime novels by Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett .
His best friend Ray Hueston, a financially unsuccessful comic book artist , is struggling with similar problems as Jonathan, but still manages to have a stabilizing effect on his friend's life. Of less help is George Christopher, editor of the fictional New York magazine Edition , for which Jonathan occasionally writes. George is a triply divorced playboy who, like Jonathan, enjoys resorting to alcohol and cannabis.
occupation
The synchronization of the series was created by Hermes Synchron based on dialogue books and under the dialogue direction of Michael Nowka .

Production and broadcast
Bored to Death is a collaboration between 3 Arts Entertainment and Dakota Films for the pay TV channel produced HBO. The series was conceived by the writer and journalist Jonathan Ames , who also gave the protagonist its name. Most of the series was filmed in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The pilot episode was seen by a total of 4.1 million viewers, including the reruns and streaming service from HBO. After the successful first broadcast of the third episode with 1.1 million viewers, which, however, was caused by the previously broadcast series Lass es, Larry! was favored, HBO ordered another season. On October 27, 2010, it was announced that HBO had commissioned a third season. The airing of this began on October 10th and ended on November 28th, 2011. As HBO announced in December 2011, there will be no fourth season.
In June 2012 it was announced that HBO was considering a sequel to the series as a television movie . Jason Schwartzman confirmed in January 2013 that Jonathan Ames would be working on the script and that he and the other leading actors would be available for the project.
