Molly Parker (born July 17, 1972 in Maple Ridge , British Columbia ) is a Canadian actress .

life and career

Molly Parker grew up in a commune in Pitt Meadows , British Columbia. She has a younger brother. At the age of 3 she began ballet training, which also included three years in the ballet company of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School . At the age of 16, she ended her dance career in favor of acting. After graduating from high school, she completed three years of acting training at the Gastown Actors' studio in Vancouver .

Parker began her acting career with roles in television series and other television productions, but was soon cast in leading roles in Canadian film productions. In Europe , she has been known in Europe since 2002 for her guest appearance as a female rabbi in the television series Six Feet Under - Always dies and then following supporting roles in US film productions such as the remake of The Wicker Man with Nicolas Cage . In Canada, Parker made a name for herself mainly through challenging female roles, such as a necrophile in her film debut Kissed , but also showed her comedic talent, for example in the sitcom Twitch City . In the second to fourth seasons of House of Cards , she played as Jacqueline Sharp the successor to Frank Underwood as Majority Whip of the Democrats.

Parker was married to director and producer Matt Bissonnette from 2002 to 2016, but the couple had been separated since 2009. They have a son together (* 2006).
