Deborah Dickson
Deborah Dickson (born before 1985) is an American director and film producer .
Life
Dickson studied at Barnard College and New York University Film School . She began her career in 1985 with a television documentary about Seiji Ozawa, co-produced by ZDF . She directed and was also responsible for the film editing; the film was later nominated for the Sundance Film Festival jury award. In the same year she edited a television documentary about Vladimir Horowitz . In 1988 she was nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Documentary Short Film, but received nothing with the short film Frances Steloff: Memoirs of a Bookseller, which she directed, produced and edited . She was also nominated for the Gold Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1988 for Karajan in Salzburg through Herbert von Karajan .
In 1997 and 2002 she was again nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary , but could not win the award in any of her nominations with Suzanne Farrell: Elusive Muse and LaLee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton .
