Summary
Alexander Payne's satire election won this year with three awards, including best film against Robert Altman's Cookie’s Fortune , Steven Soderbergh's The Limey and David Lynch's The Straight Story . Spike Jonze's eccentric film Being John Malkovich won two awards, and the surprise hit of the year, Blair Witch Project , won an award. Tom Tykwer won the award - the best foreign film - with Lola runs against Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne , Pedro Almodóvar and Mike Leigh .
