Audrey Wells

Audrey Wells (born April 29, 1960 in San Francisco , California - † October 4, 2018 in Santa Monica , California) was an American screenwriter , film director and film producer .

Life

Audrey Wells, whose paternal ancestors came from Austria , grew up in San Francisco. Here she worked as a disc jockey for the jazz radio station KJAZ FM. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and the University of Los Angeles with a Master of Fine Arts . She wrote a variety of scripts. She was also responsible for the scripts for the films she directed. Particularly noteworthy is her directorial work on Under the Tuscan Sun , which she also produced and which also became a commercial success. In 2006 she was a jury member at the Sundance Film Festival . When it comes to writing, she has mainly specialized in comedies or romances. In 2007 she co-wrote the romantic comedy Daddy Without a Plan .

The day before the US theatrical release of The Hate U Give , for which she wrote the script, Wells died on October 4, 2018 at the age of 58 of complications from cancer. She left behind her husband and daughter.
