Modern Love is a US ROMCOM - anthology series that for Amazon Prime video was produced and first published there on 18 October of 2019. The literary basis of the script by director John Carney was the successful weekly column of the same name in the New York Times , which celebrated its 15th anniversary in October 2019.
Modern Love explores "love in the multitude of its forms of appearance - including sexual, romantic, familial, platonic and self-love".

On June 11, 2018 it was announced that Amazon had commissioned the first season of a series consisting of eight episodes and written by John Carney. Carney's planned directing and co-production as well as the inclusion of the production companies Storied Media Group and The New York Times have already been mentioned. On November 26, 2018, it was reported that Emmy Rossum , Sharon Horgan and Tom Hall would be co-directing. Horgan and Hall also co-wrote the scripts of their respective episodes, with Rossum's episode written by Audrey Wells . At the same time it was announced that in addition to Carney, Todd Hoffman, Sam Dolnick and Choire Sicha would also be involved as executive producers , Trish Hofmann as producer and Daniel Jones as production consultant .
Also on November 26, 2018, the first cast members were announced, including Anne Hathaway , Tina Fey , Dev Patel , John Slattery , Catherine Keener , Julia Garner , Andy García , Cristin Milioti , Olivia Cooke , Andrew Scott , Shea Whigham , Sofia Boutella and John Gallagher Jr.
