Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy (born December 12, 1968 in Washington, DC ) is an American documentary film director and producer.

Life

Rory Kennedy is the youngest of the eleven children of US Senator Robert F. Kennedy and his wife Ethel Kennedy . Her father was murdered six months before she was born. In 1984 her brother David died of a drug overdose , and in 1997 her brother Michael died in a skiing accident. Two years later, her cousin John F. Kennedy, Jr. died when he crashed the plane he was piloting to travel to Rory's wedding. The ceremony was then postponed and held on a smaller scale two weeks later.

Rory Kennedy married Mark Bailey on August 2, 1999. They have two daughters (* 2002, * 2004) and a son (* 2007).

Rory Kennedy has received numerous awards for her work as a documentary director and producer. In 2015 she was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary for the short film Last Days in Vietnam .
