Albert Berger (film producer)
Albert Berger (20th century) is an American film producer . He became internationally known for the production of the movies Election , On the Road to Cold Mountain , Little Miss Sunshine , Little Children and Nebraska .
life and career
Albert Berger moved to Los Angeles in 1983 as a graduate of Columbia University's film school in New York . Berger tried his hand at first as a screenwriter, but without any significant success. While trying to sell a script in Hollywood, he met Ron Yerxa , who was then a studio executive at CBS Theatrical. Over time, a friendship developed and at the end of the 1980s it was decided to jointly found the production company Bona Fide Productions . Since their first joint cinema production, King of the Marbles, with director Steven Soderbergh in 1993, Berger and Yerxa have produced around 20 films in cooperation. The production team has worked with the director Alexander Payne twice so far. There were film awards for each of Payne's films. For Election with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon in the leading roles, the producer duo won the Independent Spirit Awards 2000 in the Best Picture category . In 2014, Berger and Yerxa each received an Oscar nomination in the category of best film for the cinema production Nebraska with Bruce Dern , Will Forte and June Squibb .
