Will Forte (born June 17, 1970 in Alameda County , California ) is an American actor , comedian , writer and voice actor .

Life

Forte grew up in Lafayette , California . He studied history at UCLA and after graduating initially worked as a finance broker in Los Angeles .

During this time Forte began to write scripts and skits , eventually quit his job and took courses at the comedy group and school The Groundlings , of which he later became a permanent member. Forte was a writer for various American comedy series and sitcoms between 1997 and 2002, including the Late Show with David Letterman , Behind the Moon Immediately Left and The Wild Seventies .

In 2002 Forte became a member of the ensemble of Saturday Night Live , where he was also active as a writer. For example, he wrote the MacGruber sketch, which was adapted as a feature film with him in the lead role in 2010. In August 2010, Forte left Saturday Night Live after eight years to focus on other projects.

Forte was first seen in supporting roles in various movies and series. From 2010 to 2014 he appeared occasionally on Conan O'Brien's late-night show Conan , where he played TBS founder and media mogul Ted Turner . Forte can also be heard as a speaker in various television series and computer games, for example in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs , The LEGO Movie and Welcome to Gravity Falls .

In 2013, Forte played one of the two main roles in Alexander Payne's award-winning drama Nebraska .

From 2015 to 2017, Fox ran the television series The Last Man on Earth , which he created and in which he played the lead role alongside Kristen Schaal . The series was also dubbed into German and broadcast on the Pro7Sat.1 Media AG channels.
