Kristen Schaal
Kristen Joy Schaal (born January 24, 1978 in Longmont , Colorado ) is an American actress , writer and comedian . She was best known for her role in the television series Flight of the Conchords and as a comedian and writer on the Daily Show .
life and career
After graduating from Northwestern University , Schaal moved to New York City . In 2005, New York Magazine listed her as one of the "Ten Funniest New Yorkers You've Never Heard Of". In 2006 she won an award at the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in the US state of Colorado and the Andy Kaufman Award at the New York Comedy Festival, the award for Best Female Stand up- -Komikerin the 2006 Nightlife Awards in New York and at the 2007 ECNY Awards. At the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2008 she won the Barry Award together with Nina Conti .
In 2006, Schaal appeared in the first season of the Comedy Central show Live at Gotham . She co-hosts the weekly variety show Hot Tub at the Comix Comedy Club and performs at the Peoples Improv Theater . Schaal is a founding member of The Striking Viking Story Pirates theater company , which uses children's stories in skits and songs.
At Edinburgh Fringe in 2007 joined Schaal to live and was invited as one of six from more than two hundred American performances there, in one of the US Consulate General to act sponsored selection. Schaal also performed at the Royal Albert Hall at The Secret Policeman's Ball 2008 and the Bonnaroo 2009 Music Festival. In 2010 Schaal appeared as a stand-up comedian in John Oliver's New York Stand Up Show , as well as at the Solid Sound Festival at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art .
Schaal is also featured in the 2014 music video for Weird Al Yankovic's Tacky , a parody of Pharrell Williams Happy .
