action

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 starts shortly after the events of the first part. Flint Lockwood and his crew believe they saved the world by destroying the FLDSMDFR, a proprietary invention that can turn water into food. However, their hometown was also devastated and all residents now have to be relocated. This is where the live corp comes into play, which wants to carry out the reconstruction. The boss of the company is the mega-inventor Chester V. V offers both new accommodation and new jobs in his company and organizes regular inventor competitions among the employees.

However, Flint soon finds out that his invention was not really destroyed, but continued to exist in a modified form and developed a life of its own. Because they now create living food: the so-called nibbling animals.

Flint wants to investigate and gets help from weather reporter Sam Sparks, his father Tim and friends Brent, Manny, Steve and Earl.

On their journey they come across tacodiles, shrimp, hippopotamus, frittantulas and many other living foods. It quickly turns out that Chester V pursues very different things than he pretends to be.

Reviews

“Somehow you can't get rid of the feeling that the bite of the first part and much of the originality have fallen by the wayside. Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 is certainly not a total catastrophe, but also not a film that you will think about for a long time, that you want to see again and again or that shines with many innovations. "

- Adam Arndt : serial junkies

“In the mid-80s, Herbert Grönemeyer shouted 'Children in power', flirtatiously demanding, full of fervor and conviction in one of his hits. What happens when Hollywood actually implements this daring idea, we were able to marvel at in 2009 - when the clever, clumsy inventor Flint with his childlike disposition plunged the world into chaos in the animated film adaptation of Judi Barrett's classic children's book Wolkig with the prospect of meatballs as a quasi-ruler, after one of his machines went completely out of control and spat out monstrous amounts of food that threatened to suffocate the human habitat. The directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn now span the spectrum further in the sequel and offer similar over-the-top hysterical entertainment as in the original. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is amusing and adventurous 3D fun for the young viewers, while the older semesters are appeased with some witty pop culture references. "

- Carsten Baumgardt : film starts

“[…] Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 is good entertainment, but attempts were made to be on the safe side, so that the vision of the original is missing. Nevertheless, everything is still fun and that is also the selling point of the film: the fast-paced and at times charming humor. So in the end Sony has something in common with the big competition and their success, because the second part of their newly established franchise is doing like I, simply incorrigible 2 from Universal. A largely successful and amusing animated film that works well, but that could contain so much more. "

- Michael Schmidt : Moviemaze

“Or as an allegory of breaking down the threshold of disgust for junk and novelty food. XXL tacos (like those from a well-known fast-food chain) and fat creations made from leftover meat (like those from three well-known fast-food chains) are the horror that many people like to swallow because they are used to it. Instead of a rousing narrative, the hyperactive animations turn into an educational film about food styling. Everything looks so biting that you have to be as ruthless as Chester V's company Live Corp (let: eviL) not to like it. "
