Ron Barrett

Ronald Barrett (born July 25, 1937 ) is an American illustrator and artist, best known for his illustrations in the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs , written by his wife Judi Barrett .

Life

Barrett is a graduate of the School of Industrial Art in New York City . During his school days he was an apprentice in the studio of Lucian Bernhard , a German graphic designer . He also found a mentor in Ervine Metzl , illustrator and president of the illustrator community, who predicted that young Mr. Barrett would "... end up in a mental health institution or make a million dollars anyway." (Original: "... would either wind up in a mental institution or make a million dollars.")

After graduating early, he won the Art Directors Club of New York gold medal . He then turned to his future existence as an illustrator, author and puzzle developer. He wrote The Nutty News and illustrated many books, including many children's books by Judi Barrett such as the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs series - books and animals that shouldn't wear clothes . He has also worked on all of the adult books. His greatest success here was OJ's Legal Pad with Henry Beard and John Boswell. In 2009 the children's book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was filmed by Sony Animation .

Barret created many comics in the national "gossip magazine" (English: Lampoon ), "Funny Pages", such as the comic strip "Pointless Man" during the 1970s .
