Flying Cruiser S

history

In 1967, Heribert Streuer developed a family-friendly cruising boat, the small cruiser Flying Cruiser A. The Flying Cruiser B and C models, all built by Südplastwerft until 1975, developed the three variants still produced today. The model range today includes the Flying Cruiser J as a dinghy without a cabin , the Flying Cruiser F as a family small cruiser and the Flying Cruiser S with a slip cabin. Today the dinghy is being built in the Raabe GmbH shipyard in Illmensee. Raabe GmbH took over BWC Illmensee in April 2019.

hull

The hull of the Flying Cruiser S is made of GRP using the hand lay-up process. It is a round-frame, two-shell construction with a pronounced U-frame and negative mirror. A safety foam in the bow area makes the boat unsinkable. Due to the large width and the U-shaped frame, the Flying Cruiser has a high initial stability , but is not overturned. For Lenzen the cockpit Soglenzer are installed. There is a lockable shelter cabin in the bow and also lockable lockers under the seat thwarts . The aft peak under the bridge deck is used to hold a fuel tank . An anchor box was also used.

Below deck, cabin

In the Flying Cruiser S there is a slip cabin with storage space under the two 2.20 m long berths . Two people can sleep under the living tarpaulin , which is available as an accessory .
