thwart

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ducht is the technical term for a bench or a seat board on an open rowing or sailing boat in sailor's language . If it is a seat board that runs across the keel from side to side, one speaks of a cross thigh, on which the rowers pull in a rowing boat. If the plank is attached transversely directly to the stern, i.e. aft , it is called the aft thight . As a rule, thickets run in the direction of the ship.

In canoe construction , Canadians do not refer to the seats, but transversely installed stiffening struts as throws. The central dense often serves as a support yoke, shaped accordingly .

In the Elbmarschen , depending on the context, this could also mean a subdistrict of a parish .
