Terry Alan Crews (born July 30, 1968 in Flint , Michigan ) is an American actor and former American football player . He played in the National Football League (NFL) as a linebacker and defensive end .

Life and accomplishments

Crews studied at Western Michigan University , where he also played American football. In 1991, he was by the Los Angeles Rams in the eleventh round of the 281st spot drafted . After two positions with the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers, he played for Düsseldorf Rhein Fire in 1995. In the same year he was the player with the most sacks on his team. The Washington Redskins then became aware of him and signed him. After a year he was briefly in the Practice Squad of the Philadelphia Eagles. After the 1996 season he ended his career.

Crews became known as an actor for his role in The 6th Day , in which Arnold Schwarzenegger played the lead role. In the comedy Norbit , he starred opposite Eddie Murphy and Thandie Newton .

Crews was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2006 for his role in the television series Everyone Hates . In 2006 and 2007 he was nominated for the Image Award .

He also starred in the band blink-182's music video for Down in 2004 .

In 2010 he starred with Sylvester Stallone , Bruce Willis , Mickey Rourke , Arnold Schwarzenegger , Dolph Lundgren , Jason Statham and Jet Li for the film The Expendables , directed by Sylvester Stallone, as well as in the 2012 and 2014 sequels The Expendables 2 or The Expendables 3 . In addition, Crews was featured in an advertising campaign for the Old Spice men's grooming range in 2010 and again in 2017.

Since 2013 he has played the role of Detective Sergeant Terence "Terry" Jeffords on the US sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine .

Terry Crews spoke to a US Senate committee at the end of June 2018 about a sexual attack he himself experienced in 2016 in connection with a bill to better protect victims of sexual abuse.
