Soul Plane is an American comedy film from the year 2004 with Kevin Hart and Tom Arnold in the lead roles.

action

After Nashawn Wade was stuck in an airplane toilet and his dog died from a crew mistake, Nashawn sued the airline and was awarded $ 100 million in compensation by the court. He uses the money to found his own airline, the NWA (Nashawn Wade Airlines). The company also uses the logo of the rap group NWA as its own logo. The airline is particularly recommended for African Americans and the hip-hop culture . The terminal at the airport is called the Malcolm X Terminal . The aircraft, a heavily modified Boeing 747-200 , customized with low-rider hydraulics , spinners , blended winglets for greater range and a dance club with bars. The safety video is a parody of the Destiny's Child song Survivor . The flight took off from LAX airport in the late evening. However, during the airline's first flight, Nashawn faced a variety of problems. His pilot is afraid of heights and learned to fly on simulators in prison . Nashawn is surprised and wants to have the pilot replaced by the co-pilot Gaeman. The pilot then shows Nashawn a photo in which Mack can be seen with Taliban supporters . In the meantime, Nashawn's cousin Muggsey has converted the business class into a miniature casino and strip club , something which Nashawn and his ex-girlfriend are not happy about. The Hunkee family, the only four fair-skinned on the plane, seem to be in trouble too. The daughter is said to be planning to drink and have sex with her soon-to-be-gained freedom, and she yells at her father about some sex positions and activities when he tells her that she is not yet of legal age. His son has gone from being a copy of his father's to a duplicate and is acting like a wigger . Hunkee's wife takes an interest in black men during the flight. The pilot dies after eating mushrooms, which the copilot uses to calm his pubic lice . Nashawn finds the copilot in the hot tub and gives him command. When he gets out of the whirlpool, he falls and breaks his neck. Nashawn is now forced to land the plane himself, although he is unable to make an emergency call . Nashawn lands the plane safely in Central Park , with the flight attendant Blanca helping him. Nashawn then gets back together with his ex-girlfriend Giselle. Nashawn broke up with her because he didn't want her to drop out of school. The film ends with a big party in the disco in the upper part of the plane.

The budget for Soul Plane was $ 16 million. Filming began on June 23, 2003 and was performed in Los Angeles , California . On the opening weekend, the film grossed $ 7 million. The film is distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer .

Soul Plane received rather poorer ratings. At metacritic, the film achieved a metascore of 33, in the IMDb the film received 4.2 out of 10 points and film starts awarded one of 5 stars.
