Jet Li
Jet Li ( Chinese 李連杰 / 李连杰 , Pinyin Lǐ Liánjié , Jyutping Lei 5 Lin 4 git 6 , Cantonese Li Lin Kit ; born April 26, 1963 in Beijing ) is an actor and Wushu fighter of Chinese origin.
Career
Li is one of the most sought-after martial arts actors in Hollywood . At the age of eight he began to learn the art of wushu and was enrolled in the Beijing Martial School. After three years of intensive training, Li won his first national championship for the Beijing Wushu team. Five times in a row, from 1974 to 1979, he won the Chinese championships in modern wushu.
The 1.70 meter tall Li quickly fought his way into the hearts of his fans and enjoyed cult status throughout Asia from an early age . In 1998 he played next to Mel Gibson , Danny Glover , Rene Russo and Joe Pesci in the blockbuster Lethal Weapon 4 and made a name for himself as an actor in Hollywood. His breakthrough came in 2000 with the lead role in Romeo Must Die . Films like Kiss of the Dragon , The One , Born 2 Die , Hero , Unleashed - Unleashed , Fearless , War and The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor followed.
In 1998 Li was nominated for Lethal Weapon 4 in the category Best Villain at the MTV Movie Awards and in 2000 for Romeo Must Die in the category Best Fighting Scene . Li was named one of the top 25 Sexiest Men in Showbiz in an E! Online poll .
In 2008, Li stood in front of the camera with Jackie Chan . In the “child-friendly” adventure fantasy film The Forbidden Kingdom , the story of the “journey to the west” is told. Li takes on a double role: that of the Monkey King and a not very talkative monk , Chan den T'sa-Ho . In The Expendables , Li stars alongside Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone .
Private
Li has four siblings, two older brothers and two older sisters. Li and his wife Nina Li Chi have two daughters. Before marrying Chi, he was married to martial arts expert Huang Chiu Yan. He met them while filming the film Shaolin Temple: Children of Vengeance and has two daughters with her.
In 2004, Li narrowly escaped the tsunami in the Indian Ocean on an island in the Maldives . He was vacationing there with his four-year-old daughter and injured his foot while carrying her away from the wave.
In 2007, Li, Ambassador of the Red Cross , founded the Jet Li One Foundation Project under the motto: “There is only ONE earth. Each of us only has ONE life. That makes us ONE global family. ”The project has set itself the task of promoting education and environmental protection and representing social values in China, since striving for the happiness of others also contributes to the happiness of the giver. The aim of the foundation is to collect many small contributions in order to form a large stream from them. For example, the foundation supports environmental protection projects in Tibet .
At the end of 2013, Jet Li made public that he had already been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid in 2010 , which is being treated with medication. As a result of this illness, he was temporarily unable to do sports. Li has since recovered from his hyperthyroidism.

- Li turned down the role of Chow Yun-Fat in Tiger and Dragon because he had promised his wife not to make films while she was pregnant.
- In the course of his career he has suffered 17 broken bones.
- Konami , the creators of Metal Gear Solid 2 , are huge fans of Li, and he was her biggest inspiration for the Vamp character .
- In the 2003 video game Rise to Honor for the Playstation 2 , Li plays the main character Kit Yun .
- He also appeared in the music video Try Again by his film partner Aaliyah from Romeo Must Die , in which he repeated their shared scene in which Aaliyah was walking along the wall, led by him.
- Since Romeo Must Die, Li has been dubbed by Simon Jäger and Jacques Breuer in the German language versions of his films .
- From 2006 ( Fearless ) to 2014, Li was doubled in stunt scenes by Ju Kun , who was a passenger on the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 .
