Anonimo Magliabechiano

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Anonimo Magliabechiano an as yet unidentified author of the same time Italian artist biographer and literary work preserved in a single manuscript copy referred itself. The 128-page manuscript is in the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze under the signature Ms. Magliabechiano XVII, 17 , where it was only rediscovered in 1755. The dating of the collection of biographies of important painters , architects and sculptors from the period between the 13th and the early 16th centuries, determined by several detailed analyzes - probably originated between 1542 and 1548 or gradually supplemented - indicates the actual historical significance of writing, since it would have been created parallel to the artist biographies of Giorgio Vasari published in 1550 or more likely even before them and Vasari may have served as a source.

In the past 250 years, numerous attempts have been made in research, especially by art historians and Italianists , to break down the auxiliary name Anonimo Magliabechiano and thus to explain the mystery of the context in which the script, which is important from several research points of view, was created. These include attempts to identify the author, for example, with Giorgio Vasari , Giovan Battista Adriani , Vincenzo Borghini , or Giovanni Francesco Rustici . Due to the lack of evidence and rather speculative character of these hypotheses - the same applies to the most recent attempt to use the Florentine nobleman Bernardo Vecchietti to identify the anonimo - no research proposal has yet been conclusive enforce accepted solution.
