Hiromi Suzuki

Hiromi Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 博 美 , Suzuki Hiromi ; born December 6, 1968 in Chiba ) is a former Japanese long-distance runner .

Hiromi Suzuki became the Japanese champion in the 10,000 meter run in 1995 and 1996 and set her best time of 31: 19.40 minutes when she won the second title. At the World Athletics Championships in 1995 she finished eighth in 31: 54.01 min, but was only sixteenth at the 1996 Olympic Games .

At the beginning of 1996 she made her debut on the marathon course at the Osaka Women's Marathon , where she immediately finished second with her personal best of 2:26:27 h. With a second place in the Nagoya Marathon in early 1997, she qualified for the 1997 World Championships in Athens . A heat race developed there, in which Suzuki overtook Portuguese Maria Manuela Machado after 28 kilometers . Hiromi Suzuki won in 2:29:48 h before Machado in 2:31:12 h.

With a height of 1.55 m, her competition weight was 43 kg.
