The Xiamen Marathon (English name Xiamen International Marathon; abbreviated XIM; Chinese 厦门 国际 马拉松 赛 , Pinyin Xiàmén Guójì Mǎlāsōngsài ) is a marathon in Xiamen that was first held in 2003 and is now one of the largest and fastest in Asia. It is jointly organized by the Xiamen City Council and the Chinese Athletic Association . The competition also includes a half marathon as well as a 10-km and a 5-km run.
All runs start at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center . From there it goes parallel to the coast on Huandao Road to the west. The 5 km and 10 km runs as well as the half marathon are point-to-point routes; the marathon runners return from the western part of Xiamen on mostly the same route back to the starting point.
