Hailu Negussie

Hailu Negussie ( Amharic ኃይሉ ንጉሰ ; born April 16, 1978 ) is an Ethiopian marathon runner .

In 2000, Hailu Negussie was first in the Shanghai Marathon .

In 2002 he finished second at the Hamburg Marathon and won the Hofu Marathon with his personal best of 2:08:16. In the following year he won the premiere of the Xiamen Marathon in the current course record time of 2:09:03 (as of 2008).

At the 2004 Summer Olympics , Negussie took part in the marathon, but did not finish.

His greatest success is the victory in the Boston Marathon in 2005. In the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he finished 31st.
