Stramilano
The Stramilano is a running event in Milan , which takes place since 1972 and the Gruppo alpinistico Fior di Roccia is organized. Since 1976 the main run has been a half marathon (Stramilano Agonistica Internazionale), which is one of the most important road races in the world. The program also includes the Stramilano dei 50,000, a fun run over 10 km without time measurement with around 50,000 participants, and the Stramilanina, a run over 5 km for children and families.
history
The event was initiated by Renato Cepparo, an activist in the field of popular sports. On March 14, 1972 the first event took place over a length of approx. 22 km on the outer ring road of Milan.
After three years in which the run had no competitive character, a road race over 21.097 km for international elite athletes was set up in 1976, which is still held today. The only exception is 1985 when he was replaced by an Ekiden over the marathon distance for teams of three. This competition was won by the Portuguese team ( Carlos Lopes , Elísio Rios , Carlos Capítulo ). It was also Lopes who ran the fastest partial stage over 14,065 km with 40:08 minutes. In 1993, Moses Tanui was the first person to stay below the one-hour mark in the half marathon with 59:47 minutes. In 1996 Paul Tergat even achieved a time of 58:51 minutes; However, it turned out that the distance was too short by 49 meters, which is why it was not recognized as a world record. Tergat finally broke Tanui's record two years later with a time of 59:17 minutes. In 2002, Rachid Berradi won with the current Italian record of 1:00:20 h.
Since 2004, an elite run for women has again been an integral part of the program.
route
The start is in Piazza Castello at Castello Sforzesco . First it goes to the northwest on a turning point route on Corso Sempione. Then the inner city is circled clockwise on a course that essentially follows the outer ring of the road. At km 18, turn back onto Corso Sempione , which will take you to the finish in the Arena Civica .
