Atsede Habtamu

Atsede Habtamu (also Atsede Habtamu Besuye ; born October 26, 1987 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in marathons .

Internationally, she made her first appearance at the 2007 Road Running World Championships in Udine. Over the half marathon distance she finished fifth in 1:08:29 h. A year later she was eighth in 1:11:13 h at the World Half Marathon Championships in Rio de Janeiro . She also won the 2008 Nice Half Marathon and came fourth in the Delhi Half Marathon in 1:09:37 h.

In January 2009 she made her debut at the Dubai Marathon on the 42.195 km course and finished second in 2:25:17 h. She finished the Boston Marathon in April with a time of 2:35:34 h in seventh place. In September, with her personal best of 2:24:46 h, she became the youngest female winner in the history of the Berlin Marathon .

In 2010 she was twelfth in the London Marathon and set a course record in the Eindhoven Marathon with 2:25:35 h. At the beginning of 2011, she increased her personal best at the Dubai Marathon to 2:24:26 h and came in fourth. It came third in the World's Best 10K . In April she won the Daegu Marathon and improved the course record there to 2:25:52 h.
