World Half Marathon Championships 2008

The 2008 Half Marathon World Championships (officially: IAAF / CAIXA World Half Marathon Championships ) were held on October 12, 2008 as a road race in the Brazilian city ​​of Rio de Janeiro . For the first time, the IAAF awarded this competition to South America, which was taking place for the 17th time .

The route was identical to the 12th Rio de Janeiro half marathon, which took place on the same day: a very flat point-to-point course with a difference in altitude of a good 20 meters, the one from São Conrado beach below the Pedra da Gávea mountain above Leblon , Ipanema , Copacabana and Botafogo to the finish in Flamengo .
