World Half Marathon Championships 2016
The 22nd Half Marathon World Championships (officially: IAAF World Half Marathon Championships 2016 ) were held on March 26, 2016 in Cardiff . The World Athletics Federation IAAF awarded the event to the Welsh capital at its meeting on November 15, 2013. This was the fourth time the competition was held in the United Kingdom and the first time in Wales .
Amateur athletes had the opportunity to take part in a mass race that started at the same time as the men's elite field. Around 16,000 participants took part. The route was identical to that of the Cardiff Half Marathon , which has been held annually in October since 2003.
