Half marathon world championships
The Half Marathon World Championships (official name IAAF World Half Marathon Championships ) are athletics competitions that have been held annually by the IAAF since 1992 , where the world champions in the half marathon are determined. In 2006 and 2007 the events were held as road running world championships (IAAF World Road Running Championships) , in 2006 as a 20 km road race and in 2007 as a half marathon.
Part of the competitions is a team ranking, which includes all countries from which at least three runners have reached the finish. For the evaluation, the three best times of the athletes in the respective country are added up.
Only in the first two years there was a separate competition for male juniors. Since 2014, amateur athletes have had the opportunity to take part in a mass race that starts at the same time as the men's elite field.
