Life

Born shortly before the Second World War , Reinhard Kramer developed his passion for cycling as a schoolboy when he competed with his classmates in the Eilenriede . And still as a teenager he joined the (later) Hanoverian Cycling Club from 1912 (HRC). In the years of reconstruction , Reinhard Kramer became chairman of the HRC as early as 1966 .

The former banker at Hannoversche Volksbank , who still rode his bike 50 to 60 kilometers a day as a 72-year-old, has never won a race and was “at most second or third”. But as a trustworthy conversation partner in town halls , meticulous organizer of more than 300 bicycle races and finder of sponsors , he finally made a name for himself nationwide: Kramer initiated the first night of Hanover in 1975 with up to 80,000 spectators, "said Erik Zabel , Jan Ullrich and Mario Cipollini to Hanover ”. Cycling legends like Rudi Altig regularly sent birthday greetings.

From 1993 to 2005 Kramer was Vice President of the Lower Saxony Cycling Association .

At the age of over 70, the retiree withdrew from the organization of the HRC in 2009 and received the title of honorary chairman . After he had organized the night in Hanover 25 times and turned a lap of honor with Jan Ullrich , who had come specially to say goodbye to Reinhard Kramer, the audience thanked him with applause, as if Kramer had won the race himself. The Karnevalist 2010 organized his last fools parade for the Committee Hannoverscher carnival or about the 9th Döhrener Jazz - Festival , highlighted most recently the premiere of Velo Challenge from the baptism which he and Detlef Roebuck planned.

For the 100th anniversary of the HRC, Reinhard Kramer was co- author of the 2012 festschrift .
