Conceição Ferreira

Conceição Ferreira (born March 13, 1962 in Aveleda ) is a former Portuguese long-distance runner .

1988 was second in the Paris Marathon and qualified by the marathon of the Games in 1988 in Seoul , where she finished in 20th place. In 1989 she finished third, 1990 second and 1991 fourth in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon , and in 1990 she won the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2:30:34 h. The following year, she set her personal best of 2:30:18 h in seventh place in the Boston Marathon .

However, she achieved her greatest successes in the following years on shorter routes. In 1992 she set a Portuguese record in the 10,000 meter run with 31: 16.42 min . This was followed by a sixth place over this distance at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 and the title win at the World Half Marathon Championships of the same year. The following year she won a bronze medal at the World Cross Country Championships and then the silver medal at the 10,000 meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1994 .

She took part in the Olympic Games two more times. At the 1992 Games she reached the final of the 10,000-meter run, which she did not finish, and at the 1996 Games in Atlanta , she was eliminated in the run-up over the same distance.
