Fabiano Joseph

Fabiano Joseph ( Fabiano Joseph Naasi; born December 24, 1985 in Babati ) is a Tanzanian long-distance runner .

Life

At the 10,000-meter run of the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis, he finished 13th. Shortly afterwards he ran the same distance in 27: 32.63 min and took silver at the World Half Marathon Championships in Vilamoura . The following year he was seventh at the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels , tenth at the 10,000 meter run at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and repeated his second place at the World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi . At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he finished 15th over 5000 meters .

His greatest success to date came soon afterwards, when he won the world title on the third attempt at the Half Marathon World Championships in Edmonton with a time of 1:01:08 h. He also did well at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne . Over 5000 meters he finished fifth in his personal best of 13: 12.76 minutes, and over 10,000 meters he took bronze in 27: 51.99 minutes. In the same year he was second in the Great Manchester Run over 10 km with the Tanzanian record of 27:41 minutes and won the Bogotá half marathon . On the marathon route , however, things have not gone so well for him so far. The only time that he has ever crossed the finish line was in the 2006 Amsterdam Marathon , finishing tenth in 2:13:24 hours.

In 2008, as fourth in the RAK half marathon, he stayed for the first time on the half marathon distance under an hour and improved over 10,000 meters to 27: 19.72 minutes. Over this distance he came ninth at the Olympic Games in Beijing and 13th at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

Fabiano Joseph is married to Josephine Deemay (* 1986), who finished fifth in the 2006 Commonwealth Games marathon.
