Eloise Wellings (* 9. November 1982 in White Plains as Eloise Poppett ) is an Australian long-distance runner of US origin.

Athletic career

Eloise Welling gained her first international experience at the Junior World Championships in Annecy in 1998 , where she finished eleventh in the 3000 meter run in 9: 36.64 minutes . The following year she took part in the Youth World Championships in Bydgoszcz and was fourth over this distance in 9: 05.05 min. In 2003 she finished 70th on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Avenches and won the 5000-meter run at the Summer Universiade in Daegu, South Korea in 15: 47.19 minutes . At the 2005 World Cross Country Championships in Saint-Galmier , she came in 67th place in the long distance. In 2006 she was fourth over 5000 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 15: 00.69 min. At the Cross Country World Championships in Fukuoka she finished 39th on the short distance and 22nd on the long distance, and at the Athletics World Cup in Athens she was fourth over 3000 meters.

In 2010 she came in 48th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz. At the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi , she was fifth in the 5000 m in 16: 11.97 min and sixth in the 10,000-meter run in 33: 36.76 min . The following year followed a 41st place at the 2011 World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbría . In 2012 she qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where she finished 20th over 10,000 meters in 32: 25.43 minutes . In addition, she was eliminated in the 5000 meter competition with 15: 35.53 minutes in the first round . Two years later she was fifth over 5000 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 15: 14.99 min. She then reached fourth place in the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech in 16: 00.14 minutes.

In 2015 she won the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon and the Gold Coast Marathon half marathon . She also qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Beijing , where she finished tenth in the final with 15: 09.62 minutes . She also finished second in the Melbourne Marathon half marathon . In 2016 she again took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished ninth in the final with 15: 01.59 min .
