World Cross Country Championships 2006

The 34th IAAF World Cross Country Championships the IAAF took place on 1 and 2 April 2006 in Fukuoka ( Japan instead).

The short-distance competitions were part of the program for the last time.

course

A 2 km circuit had been set up in Umi-no-Nakamichi Park. The men covered 12 km on the long distance, the women on the long distance and the juniors 8 km, the juniors 6 km and the short distance runners of both sexes 4 km.

Competitions

The junior women's race, the men's short-distance race and the women's long-distance race took place on March 19, and the other three races on the following day. A total of $ 560,000 in prize money was available for the adult competitions, of which the winners of each race received $ 30,000 and each winning team received $ 20,000.

Of 99 registered athletes, 98 started and 92 crossed the finish line. The Kenyan Thomas Pkemei Longosiwa and the Bahraini Tareq Mubarak Taher were subsequently disqualified because of incorrect age information.

The only participant from a German-speaking country, the Swiss Stefan Breit, did not reach the goal.
