Wude Ayalew (also: Wude Ayalew Yimer ; born July 4, 1987 in Gojjam ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

Career

It first appeared internationally in 2006. At the Cross Country World Championships in Fukuoka she reached fifth place on the long distance. In addition, she won the Würzburg Residence Run over 10 km in 31:30 minutes, setting a course record. In the same year she was fifth in the 5000-meter run of the Junior World Championships in Beijing .

In 2007 she was tenth at the Cross Country World Championships in Mombasa and won the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta and the Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa. In 2008 she won at the African Championships in Addis Ababa in the 10,000-meter race bronze, defended her title at the Great Ethiopian Run and triumphed in the Saint Silvester Road Race in Sao Paulo. In 2009 she was fifth at the World Cross Country Championships in Amman and won silver with the team.

She celebrated the greatest success of her career to date at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin. In a time of 30: 51.95 min she won the bronze medal over 10,000 m behind the Kenyan Linet Chepkwemoi Masai and her compatriot Meselech Melkamu .

In autumn 2009 she finished second in the Delhi Half Marathon , in 2010 she set a course record at the World 10K Bangalore with 31:58 minutes and took fourth place in the 10,000 meter run at the African Championships in Nairobi . She also started again in the Delhi Half Marathon, this time finishing third, and she won the Falmouth Road Race .

At the 2011 Cross Country World Championships in Punta Umbría, she reached sixth place in the individual ranking and won the silver medal in the team ranking with the Ethiopian team.
