Würzburg Residence Run
The Würzburg Residence Run is a city run that has been held in Würzburg in spring since 1989 . A 10 km road race for the elite will be held on a 2.5 km lap (Lauf der Asse), the event also includes a separate fun run over the same distance as well as runs over 2.5 km and 5 km for beginners, a school run and a bambini run.
The circuit, measured with a Jones counter in accordance with the IAAF regulations, begins and ends on Residenzplatz and runs counter-clockwise around the Residenz and the adjacent parks. The time measurement is done by ChampionChip .
The run of the aces (held annually since 1990 with the exception of 1995) is one of the fastest 10 km races in the world. Among other things, a time was run here in 1993 that was the fastest on German soil until 2010, when it was undercut by Leonard Patrick Komon at the Grand 10 Berlin .
Organization and program
The organizers of the Residenzlauf are Müller-Reichart Veranstaltungs-GmbH and the Würzburg Sports Office. The sporting organizer is the gymnastics community 1848 Würzburg .
The following competitions are held:
- a running competition for kindergarten children (up to 7 years) over 600 m (official trial run )
- a running competition for kindergarten children (up to 7 years) with an accompanying person over 600 m without timing (officially kindergarten run )
- a running competition for children (up to 9 years) over 1.0 km (officially Bambini run )
- Running competitions for students (up to 9 years) over 1.0 km and (from 10 years) over 2.5 km, both without timekeeping (official run of the schools )
- a running competition for young runners, new runners, handicapped athletes, health athletes and walkers over 2.5 km (officially no-limits run )
- a running competition / company run over 5.0 km (officially Fit and Fun run )
- a running competition over 10.0 km (officially main run )
- a running competition over 10.0 km for runners with a time of less than 34 minutes (men) or less than 40 minutes (women) (official run of the aces )
- a handbike race over 20.0 km
The entire Residenzplatz (start and finish) in front of the Würzburg Residenz is included in the supporting program of the Residenzlauf . Free childcare has been offered here since 2012. In the neighboring Bechtolsheimer Hof and in the former Mozart grammar school, changing and shower facilities are provided for the participants.
