Michal Grošek (born June 1, 1975 in Vyškov , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player . During his career he played for the Winnipeg Jets , Buffalo Sabers , Chicago Blackhawks , New York Rangers and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League .
Career
Grošek began his career at HC Zlin . After he was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the sixth round as 145th by the Winnipeg Jets , he moved to North America to the Tacoma Rockets in the WHL . In his first season he also played for the Moncton Hawks in the AHL and also came to the Winnipeg Jets for his first three appearances in the National Hockey League , in which he also scored his first goal.
In the next two years he could not fight for a regular place in the Jets and was mostly used in the AHL farm team with the Springfield Falcons . During the 1994/95 season he therefore moved to the Buffalo Sabers , where he now made his breakthrough in the NHL. Grošek showed his best offensive performance during the 1998/99 season when he set personal records for goals scored (20), assists (30), scorer points (50), penalty minutes (102) and shots fired (140). In exchange for Doug Gilmour and Jean-Pierre Dumont , he moved to the Chicago Blackhawks at the end of the 1999/2000 season . For the following season he moved to the New York Rangers . In the two seasons with the Rangers he was often used in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack . There were two more seasons with the Boston Bruins .
When the NHL went on strike for the 2004/05 season , he moved to the Swiss National League A to HC Servette Genève with an NHL record of 526 games, 84 goals and 137 assists . After a detour in the Russian Super League at SKA Saint Petersburg in the 2005/06 season , he returned to Switzerland and after an injury first played a game for Servette, got a trial contract with Friborg-Gottéron , was not signed and finally switched to EV Zug , with whom he signed a contract until 2008. In the middle of the 2007/08 season he left Zug for personal reasons and signed a contract with Leksands IF, where he will meet former NHL goalkeeper Ed Belfour .
