Kurt Stenzel

Kurt Stenzel (born March 12, 1962 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Career

He was German champion a total of twelve times, including twice in the 10,000 meter run (1989 and 1990), three times in the 25 km road run (1989, 1990 and 1992) and in 1993 in the marathon as the overall winner of the Hanover Marathon in his personal best of 2:13:25 h.

In 1986 he won the Paderborn Easter Run over 25 km, in 1988 the Route du Vin and in 1990 the Würzburg Residence Run . At the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart, he was twelfth. In 1992 he took part in the World Half Marathon Championships in South Shields and finished 56th.

Kurt Stenzel started for the OSC Höchst until 1986 , then until 1993 for the ASC Darmstadt and finally for the LAC Quelle . Today he works as a physiotherapist in a Frankfurt practice and as a speaker at running seminars. In addition, he trains the performance group of the Frankfurt running club Spiridon Frankfurt.

Private

He is married and has two sons. His brothers Dietmar and Helmut were also active as long-distance runners.

The former middle-distance runner Rüdiger Stenzel is not related to Kurt Stenzel.
