Eva Cherono (born August 15, 1996 in Kericho ) is a Kenyan middle and long distance runner .

Athletic career

Eva Cherono gained her first international experience at the 2013 African Youth Championships in Warri , where she finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2: 13.47 minutes and won the silver medal over 1500 meters in 4: 28.47 minutes. Two years later she was fourth in the 1,500 meter run at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa in 4: 29.43 min . In 2018 she took part in the 5000-meter run at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and finished seventh in 15: 36.10 minutes. At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships , the 22-year-old finished eighth in Aarhus in March and came second in the team standings.
