Würzburg marathon

The Würzburg Marathon (official name "iWelt marathon würzburg" after the sponsor iWelt AG) is a marathon that has been taking place in Würzburg since 2001 . It was founded by Michael Littmann, is organized by the volunteer team of the Stadtmarathon Würzburg eV under the direction of Günter Herrmann and has established itself as one of the most popular marathons in Germany (2006: 18th place).

In addition to the marathon, there are also half marathons , a 10km run, relay marathons and children's runs. The time is measured with the ChampionChip system.

Route

The start takes place directly in front of the CCW. After crossing the bridge of the German unity , it goes on a lap through the Zellerau then to walk towards Heidingsfeld. There it goes to the other side of the Main in the direction of the city center (past almost all of Würzburg's monuments). At the height of the CCW, the paths of the marathon and half-marathon runners separate. The half marathon runners run directly to the finish in front of the CCW, the marathon runners turn off for the second lap (same route).
