Irene Jerotich Kosgei

Irene Jerotich Kosgei (born September 8, 1974 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .

In 2004 she won the half marathon competition of the Würzburg Marathon and was third in each of the 25 km from Berlin , the Bredase Singelloop and the Reims Marathon . In 2005 she was fourth in the Berlin half marathon and fourth in the Ruhr marathon and second in the Nairobi marathon . In 2006 he placed third in the Alexander the Great Marathon and in the Portugal Half Marathon, followed by victory in the Nairobi Marathon.

In 2007 she was fifth in the Paris Marathon and sixth in Reims, and in 2008 second in Nairobi.

In 2009 she won the Tiberias Marathon , finished third in the Ottawa Marathon and won again in Nairobi. The following year, she finished second at the CPC Loop The Hague and won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi , even though she collided with a competitor at a refreshment station and hit her knee. This made her the first Kenyan woman to win the marathon at this event. At the end of the season, she won the Singapore Marathon .

In 2011 she was fifth in the Daegu Marathon , came in 13th place at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu and defended her title in Singapore. In 2012 she won the Milan Marathon and Singapore.

In 2013 she finished fifth in Milan and in 2015 eleventh in Nairobi.
