Dirk Nürnberger (born January 19, 1970 in Leipzig ) is a German long-distance runner who had his greatest successes on the marathon distance .

In 1989 he became the European junior champion in the 20 km road race .

In 1991 he finished second in the Rhine-Ruhr Marathon and in 1992 seventh in the Hanover and fifth in the Frankfurt Marathon .

In 1995 he set his personal record in the half marathon of 1:03:33 h with a 16th place at the Route du Vin . In 1997 he was the overall second German marathon champion at the Regensburg Marathon .

In 2001 he won the Würzburg Marathon in the half marathon competition, in 2002 the Dresden Marathon over the full distance, and in 2003 he set a course record for the half marathon in the Leipzig Marathon .

In 2005, as the overall winner of the Regensburg Marathon, he became German marathon champion for the second time.

Dirk Nürnberger was discovered by Horst Kriegel and trained in the same training group as Steffen Bringmann at the BSG Lokomotive Delitzsch. Later he was delegated to the SC DHfK Leipzig and started from 1993 to 2002 for the LAC Quelle , 2003 for the LG Bonn / Troisdorf / Niederkassel, from 2004 to 2006 again for the SC DHfK Leipzig and since then for the LG Regensburg. He works full-time at a bank and lives in Veitsbronn .
