Steffen Bringmann (born March 11, 1964 in Leipzig ) is a former German athlete who - initially starting for the GDR - was successful as a 100 and 200 meter runner from the mid-1980s .

Life

At the 1986 European Indoor Championships , he won the silver medal in the 60-meter sprint. His greatest success is winning two silver medals at the European Athletics Championships in 1986 : in the 100-meter run (10.20 s) and with the GDR's 4 x 100-meter relay (38.64 s, together with Frank Emmelmann , Olaf Prenzler and Thomas Schröder ).

In the European Cup final in 1987 he was second for the GDR team in the 100-meter run and in the 200-meter run , in 1991 he was third in the European Cup in the 100-meter run for the German team. In the 100-meter run, Steffen Bringmann was GDR champion in 1987 and 1989 and German champion in 1991 and 1992.

Bringmann earned his first spurs in the children and youth sector at BSG Lokomotive Delitzsch under Horst Kriegel, who also trained Dirk Nürnberger , and was delegated to KJS Leipzig in 1978 and belonged to the SC DHfK Leipzig (until 1988), SC Dynamo Berlin ( 1989), 1. SC Berlin (1990) and MTG Mannheim . In his playing days he was 1.84 m tall and weighed 82 kg. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the reunification , the name of Bringmann was also found among the doped athletes. He is a trained mechanical engineer and works in real estate management for a company in Mannheim.
