Priscah Jepleting Cherono (born Ngetich ; born June 27, 1980 in Kamuiywa , Nandi County ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .
At the 1997 World Cross Country Championships in Turin, she won silver in the junior women's race.
In 2003 she was eleventh on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Avenches and won gold with the Kenyan team. The following year she won silver over 5000 m at the African Athletics Championships in Brazzaville . In 2005 she came fourth at the World Cross Country Championship in Saint-Galmier and won silver with the team. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki she was seventh over 5000 m. In 2006 silver medals followed in the individual and team competitions at the Cross Country World Championships in Fukuoka ; she also won the Giro Media Blenio .
In 2007 she finished seventh at the Cross Country World Championships in Mombasa and again won silver with the team. At the World Championships in Osaka , she won bronze in the 5000 m. With her time of 14: 59.21 s she remained well behind Meseret Defar and Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot , but was able to distance her fourth-placed compatriot Sylvia Jebiwott Kibet by 0.05 s.
As in the previous year, she was seventh in the individual and second in the team classification at the 2008 Cross Country World Championships in Edinburgh. At the Olympic Games in Beijing , she finished eleventh over 5000 m.
After a baby break, she returned to competition at the end of 2010 and came second in the Corrida de Houilles. In 2011 she contributed fifth to the victory of the Kenyan team at the Cross Country World Championships in Punta Umbría . After a fourth place over 10,000 m at the World Championships in Daegu , she won the Grand Prix of Prague and the Dam tot Damloop .
Priscah Jepleting Cherono is 1.58 m tall and has a competition weight of 47 kg. She has been married to Charles Chemase Cherono since December 2006 .
