Benjamin Limo (born August 23, 1974 in Eldoret , Kenya ) is a former Kenyan athlete and world champion over 5000 meters (2005).

Career

Benjamin Limo only started professional running training in 1996 .

In Seville in 1999 he became vice world champion over 5000 meters. In the same year he also won in Belfast (Northern Ireland, United Kingdom) at the Cross Country World Championships with 12:28 min over the short distance (4.236 km).

At the World Cross Country Championships in 2003 , he was third on the short distance (4.03 km). At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he won over 5000 meters and took the title of world champion.

At the Commonwealth Games in 2006 he was third behind Augustine Kiprono Choge and Craig Mottram over 5000 meters. At the 2006 World Cross Country Championships in Japan, he was fourth.

In 2008 he started the marathon distance for the first time and finished 12th in the Amsterdam Marathon with a time of 2:12:46 h .

He is 1.78 m tall and his competition weight was listed as 65 kg.
