Tesfayohannes Mesfin (born November 24, 1974 ) is an Eritrean long-distance runner .

Career

At the 2001 Mountain Running World Championships , he finished 19th and at the 2002 Cross Country World Championships in Dublin on the long distance, 78th place.

In 2003, a 41st place at the Cross Country World Championships in Avenches was followed by a fourth place at the Saragossa Half Marathon. At the Half Marathon World Championships in Vilamoura he came in 29th place.

In 2004 he finished 22nd at the Cross Country World Championships in Brussels on the long distance and won bronze with the Eritrean team. At the Mountain Running World Championships, he won silver, and at the Half Marathon World Championships in New Delhi , he finished 21st.

The following year, he finished 20th in the long-distance race at the 2005 World Cross Country Championships in Saint-Galmier. At the Half Marathon World Championships in Edmonton he was twelfth and won silver with the team.

In 2006 in Fukuoka he achieved his best individual placement at a cross-country championship with a ninth place on the long distance and his best team ranking with silver. A sixth place over 10,000 m at the African Athletics Championships in Bambous was followed by a 21st place and another silver medal in the team classification at the Road Running World Championships in Debrecen .

In 2007 he did not finish at the Cross Country World Championships in Mombasa . At the Madrid Marathon he was fifth and at the Africa Games in Algiers over 10,000 m eleventh. Another silver medal at the Mountain Running World Championships in Ovronnaz was followed by a 20th place at the Amsterdam Marathon .

In 2008 he qualified with an eleventh place in the Hamburg Marathon for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Beijing , in which he did not reach the goal. In 2009 he finished 67th in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Berlin and came in eighth in the Ljubljana Marathon . In 2010 in Bydgoszcz he came in 33rd place in his last World Cross Country Championship participation.
