Ali Abdosh

Ali Abdosh (born August 25, 1987 in the Harar region ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

In 2006 he was fifth at the Cross Country World Championships in Fukuoka on the short distance and won silver with the Ethiopian team. Over 5000 m , Abdosh came in sixth at the 2006 African Athletics Championships in Bambous and fifth at the 2007 African Games in Algiers.

At the African Athletics Championships in Addis Ababa in 2008 , he won bronze over 5000 m. In the same year he won the traditional Ekiden in Chiba with the Ethiopian team .

In 2009 Abdosh won at the FBK Games over 5000 m with a time of 12: 59.65 minutes and stayed under 13 minutes for the first time. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 he attracted attention when he lost a shoe in the preliminary round due to a collision with a competitor. He was unable to make up the resulting deficit despite a strong fighting performance to the cheers of the audience. The competition judges then decided to let Abdosh start in the final anyway. There he finished sixth in the end. The following month he increased his personal best as fourth at the Memorial Van Damme to 12: 56.53 min. At the end of the year, Abdosh won the São Silvestre Angola .

The following year he came in at the 2010 Half Marathon World Championships in Nanning on the 27th place. In 2011, he finished ninth in the Africa Games half marathon in Maputo and won the Boston half marathon .

In 2012 Abdosh was third in the BAA 10K , in 2013 seventh in the Daegu Marathon and in 2014 sixth in the Santiago Marathon . In 2015, a sixth place in the Xiamen Marathon was followed by a second in the Xichang Marathon .

doping

Because of doping , Abdosh has been disqualified by the World Athletics Federation ( IAAF ) since December 24, 2017 and banned for four years from February 5, 2018 to February 4, 2022.
