Zhor El Kamch

Zhor El Kamch ( Arabic زهور الكمش; * March 15, 1973 in Tiflet ) is a Moroccan long-distance runner .

Life

In 1989 she won gold at the school world championships in cross country . A year later she made her first appearance at the Cross Country World Championships , where she finished 17th in the junior women race.

In 1993 she won the premiere of the Course Féminine de Casablanca . To date, she has won six out of nine events in this race, the last one in 2007.

At the Olympic Games in 2000 , she started in the 5000 meter run , but failed in the semifinals. At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 , she finished 13th over the same distance. Earlier this year, she was fifth in the 3000-meter run at the World Indoor Championships .

The following year she made a triumphant debut on the marathon route : she won the Rotterdam Marathon with the national record of 2:26:10 h. Shortly afterwards, her husband died in a car accident. She had to cancel her participation in the marathon of the 2004 Olympic Games , at the Chicago Marathon of the same year she finished a rapid first half with 1:11:47 h, but then collapsed completely and came in 2:53:39 to 27. In 2005 she was eighth in the Boston Marathon in 2:36:54 h. In 2006 she finished seventh on the short course of the Cross Country World Cup, her best individual placement in this competition to date.

The 1.66 meter tall and 49 kg athlete has been a sports soldier since 1993 . She won numerous titles at the military world championships, especially in cross-country running.
