Tiflet (from Central Atlas Tamazight ⵜⵉⴼⵍⵜ Tifelt ; Arabic تيفلت) is a city with about 100,000 inhabitants in the province of Khémisset in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region , Morocco .
Location and climate
Tiflet is about 33 km (driving distance) northwest of the provincial capital Khémisset at an altitude of about 345 m ; the state capital Rabat on the Atlantic Ocean is about 66 km to the west. The city has a connection to the A2 motorway (Rabat- Fès - Oujda ). The climate is temperate to warm and is largely determined by the nearby sea; Rain (approx. 535 mm / year) falls almost exclusively in the winter half-year.

A large part of the population is of Berber descent and did not immigrate until the second half of the 20th century. Sometimes the Berber dialects of the Central Atlas Tamazight are still spoken, but mostly Moroccan Arabic .
economy
The region is largely agricultural; the city functions as a regional center of trade, handicrafts, administration and services.
history
For centuries Tiflet was just a village. It was not until the time of the French protectorate and especially after Morocco gained independence in 1956 that the town grew to its present size.
Attractions
The city has no historically or culturally significant sights and makes an overall rather provincial but modern impression.
